Research & Grants VPSAB Co-ChairHorizon Europe NCP

Professor of Immunology and leader in molecular and regenerative medicine — driving I AM Regen’s research direction and European-funding strategy.

Biography

Professor Victoria Sarafian is a Professor of Immunology in the Department of Medical Biology at the Medical University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, holds two medical specialties — Medical Biology and Clinical Immunology — and leads the Molecular and Regenerative Medicine Division of the university’s Research Institute. She is a founding member of I AM Regen, where she leads research direction and grants.

Trained internationally — with research positions at the University of Cambridge (UK), the University of Namur (Belgium) and INSERM/University of Nantes (France) — her scientific work spans clinical immunology, cell biology and regenerative medicine. She serves on international editorial boards and reviews for leading journals.

She is Bulgaria’s national representative and contact point for major European research programmes, including Horizon Europe and the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) — expertise that positions IAMRegen to align with the COST framework and pursue European research funding. She is a strong advocate for geographic inclusiveness and for bringing the next generation of researchers into international networks.
