Professor Petek Korkusuz received her MD from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 1991 and completed her residency in Histology and Embryology at Hacettepe University in 1997. She received her PhD in 2000 from Gazi University in Medical Pharmacology. She was appointed Assistant Professor in 1998, Associate Professor in 2003, and full Professor in 2010 at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine.
She has conducted research at INSERM Laboratory, Bordeaux University (1993); Osaka University Department of Bioregulation (1997–1998); Erasmus University Immunology Department (1999, NATO-B1 grant); and as a visiting professor at Harvard and Yale Universities IPSC Centers (2015). She holds 6 patents, has authored numerous international and national book chapters, and has received multiple awards. She has 3,131 citations across 186 publications in the Science Citation Index (WOS) with an h-index of 31, and 5,515 citations in Google Scholar with an h-index of 39.
Her research focuses on biomaterials and stem cells for soft and hard tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, musculoskeletal system regeneration, cancer biology, and male infertility within the somatic and germ stem cell microenvironment. She is an active member of the Orthopaedic Research Society, International Stem Cell Research Society, European Society of Gene and Cell Therapy, and several European and Turkish scientific societies.
